The Heidelberg Congress Centre (HCC), which opened in April 2024 after around three years of construction, represents a significant innovation for the city of science. The architecturally striking building opposite the main railway station and the new Europaplatz offers a total of 6633 square metres of dialogue space on three levels, making it an important hotspot for congresses and conferences.
Special attention was paid to the building’s acoustics, particularly in the Great Hall, which is designed for up to 1200 people. Müller-BBM Acoustic Solutions provided the basis for an outstanding sound experience with the Vivace system. By installing more than 60 loudspeakers and a large number of microphones in combination with the Vivace software, the best conditions were created for the perfect and flexible sound design of the room for classical concerts and other events.
In addition to the large hall, the HCC also offers other flexible rooms and modern technology, including the largest permanently installed LED wall in Germany, a high-end TV studio and various forums. Gold certification from the German Sustainable Building Council also emphasises the environmentally conscious concept of the building.
You can read more about the project and acoustic details in the Rhein-Neckar-Zeitung article.
