The Bergson Kunstkraftwerk in Munich-Aubing will be enriched by a fascinating attraction on 9 October 2024: the ultra-modern Elektra Tonquartier will open. The modern concert hall for around 500 people is the latest highlight of the cultural centre. The Elektra Tonquartier is a space that offers a wide range of musical and technical possibilities thanks to its flexible acoustic technology.
Originally planned as a classical concert hall with natural acoustics in the historic building of the former thermal power station, the Elektra Tonquartier is now part of a new building and sets new standards in terms of sound design. According to Josy Friebel, Technical Director of the Bergson Kunstkraftwerk, the hall is a ‘laboratory’ that offers space for the exploration and realisation of sound concepts.
‘This hall is a laboratory in which sound design, musical and technical possibilities can be explored and realised,’ emphasises Josy Friebel, Technical Director of the Bergson Kunstkraftwerk. A special highlight will therefore be a concert entitled ‘Vivace’, which will celebrate its premiere on 20 October 2024 and in which the Vivace system itself will take centre stage. The concert will feature a mixture of moving and static sound sources. This event will impressively demonstrate the versatility and innovative possibilities of the system.
The Bergson Kunstkraftwerk, a former combined heat and power plant from the 1920s, was opened in 2024 after extensive refurbishment. The extensive restoration and expansion of the site was carried out under the direction of Stenger2 Architekten, with significant support from Müller-BBM Acoustic Solutions & Building Solutions. In addition to the Tonquartier, the Kunstkraftwerk offers further event rooms, an art gallery and a restaurant.
