For the Würth Philharmonic’s summer concert in June 2026, the Grand Hall of the Carmen Würth Forum once again became the setting for a demanding concert production. The programme featured well-known musical theatre numbers, including selections from Les Misérables, Jesus Christ Superstar, Jekyll & Hyde and The Greatest Showman.
The Grand Hall is designed as a flexible venue for speech, conferences and large-scale events. A musical theatre programme featuring an orchestra, miked vocals and a full audience, however, requires additional sonic richness, presence and spatial integration.
We were on site to adapt VIVACE.maestro and VIVACE.fx to the programme, the ensemble and the technical setup over the course of several rehearsals. The system was combined with a sound reinforcement system, four line arrays and wireless microphones for the vocalists. The key challenge was to coordinate the in-house sound engineer’s microphone mix with VIVACE’s virtual orchestra shell and the hall’s multichannel loudspeaker system.
VIVACE supported the orchestral sound not only by enhancing the room acoustics, but also through the spatially mapped reproduction of individual instrumental sections. This allowed the orchestra to retain its power, vitality and spatial presence even in seats further away from the stage, without taking on the character of conventional amplification.
The reverberation for the miked vocals was also generated using VIVACE. Rather than reproducing an external reverb unit solely through the sound reinforcement loudspeakers, VIVACE’s reverb engine was integrated into the hall’s multichannel loudspeaker system. As a result, the vocal reverberation blended more naturally into the overall sound of the room.
