The KD Slavie cultural and creative centre in the Czech city of České Budějovice combines the refurbishment of the existing building with the creation of a new auditorium within its historic structure.
VIVACE.maestro provides the auditorium with electronically adjustable room acoustics. The system was closely coordinated with the architectural acoustics, allowing the natural acoustic character of the space and variable acoustic scenarios to work in concert. During operation, the auditorium can be adapted flexibly to a wide range of programmes, including chamber music, orchestral concerts and solo recitals, as well as spoken-word events, theatre, dance, pop music and events organised by local associations and institutions.
The loudspeakers were integrated into the auditorium design so that they remain visually unobtrusive and do not dominate the architectural appearance.
With České Budějovice preparing to become European Capital of Culture 2028, KD Slavie represents a process of architectural and cultural renewal that brings together historic fabric, new usage concepts and contemporary event technology.
